This post actually builds on my last post where I told a story of a one armed martial arts student. You can read that story here. To recap, I told a story about a one-armed martial arts student who won his competition despite knowing only one move. He defeated his opponents by putting them in a hold that could only be broken by grabbing his left arm (which didn’t exist) because he had no left arm, his weakness became his ticket to victory. Another way to look at that story is to see the powerful move that the student used, and connect that with the power that we all have as Christians in the name of Christ. In His Holy name we are truly powerful beyond measure. Often we let our worldly passions hinder that power. We all have things in our lives that feel essential, such as our arms, but the fact is that they are not essential. As we saw in the story, they have the potential to get in our way and allow the enemy to have something to latch on to. God is calling you to do great things. You don’t have to get noticed in the newspaper or on TV, but you are called as a Christian to change the world. It could be small acts, such as smiling at someone who is having a bad day, or something big like paying off someone’s debt or visiting the imprisoned. But something gets in the way, something holds you back. What is it? It could be fear, lack of self worth, or sin. The enemy is holding on to something in you, trying to take away the God given power that you have. Think and pray about what it is that is holding you back; use that same power lay it at the feet of Christ, and ask Him to take it away. What is it that you allow to strip you of this power? Have you overcome such an obstacle? If so, how? You are powerful beyond measure. With God’s help you can find what it is that is holding you back, offer it up to him and truly change the world. these terrible
