I start this post knowing that I didn’t find anyone that I’m working with; all I did was not be so stupid as to over-look the gifts that God had placed before me. The staff that I have with me today has been born out of 4 years of ministry at St. Joseph’s in Bryan, TX. When I started it was just my wife and I, we would find a baby sitter for our two boys and head to the parish on Sunday evenings to meet with the surprisingly small group of 9 middle school youth. It didn’t take long before the group started to grow and we had to enlist some volunteer help. The first of these was J.P. Quinn, he had been a youth in my first ministry job at St. Philip’s in Lewisville, TX and I knew that he was the type of person that would do well in youth ministry. Soon after that, Alyssa Trutter came on board and with her previous experience quickly became essential to our ministry. Then in response to a “one armed monkey trainers” add in St. Mary’s bulletin Sarah Masters came and showed her passion and skill in ministry. All the while the number of youth kept increasing and our ministries kept growing. After 3 years we had taken on a second night, and outgrown many of our meeting place options. I knew that we had built a great team that was effective at relational ministry; the time was ripe for CCFM to become a reality and flourish. God wasn’t done yet though. That summer during our week long day camp He placed another outstanding team member in front of me. I was able to watch Kyle Turner minister to, lead and work with youth that I had known for years, as if he had known them for years. With J.P. going off to be some sort of rocket scientist, Kyle was the perfect fit to complete the team. In the future I have a feeling that my teams won’t come together quite so easily, but I am very thankful at the blessings that God has given us in this team! belonged
